How does it work?
Air-Gap Backup with NetApp ONTAP Snapshot copies and Cleondris SnapGuard is a logical air-gap backup. A snapshot is a time-accurate, precise, read-only copy of data corresponding to the exact time when the data was recorded. Snapshots are created regularly and transferred from the primary system to the offsite system using SnapMirror. SnapLock compliance software protects the offsite Snapshot copies from being deleted from the offsite system by a malicious actor with administrative privileges. Cleondris SnapGuard ensures that the air-gap copy has not been corrupted or encrypted and does not contain already corrupted data that was not detected when the air-gap backup was created.

- Monitoring of Snapshot copies: Cleondris SnapGuard continuously monitors Snapshot copies to ensure they have not been corrupted or encrypted.
