How does it work?
Cleondris Data Manager leverages NetApp SnapMirror cloud technology to enable direct backup of data from NetApp ONTAP systems to object storage. Cleondris' deep integration with ONTAP APIs allows organisations to back up data from ONTAP directly to object storage using the native NetApp Mover, whether in an S3 bucket in the public cloud or on-premises S3 such as NetApp StorageGRID. Cleondris also provides a scalable file catalog for efficiently searching for files and directories in S3 and restoring them from S3 back into ONTAP.
Cleondris uses SnapDiff v3 APIs to control the backup and restore flow, and collect metadata that allows users to search for files and directories in the backup data. Cleondris software sits outside the actual data path. It uses SnapDiff v3 APIs to collect metadata for backup content in multiple versions and store it in its own database to facilitate later retrieval of backup data from the cloud.
